About Nova Scotia HST
- Current rate: 14% (5% GST + 9% PST) on or after April 1st, 2025
- Applies to most goods and services
As of April 1, 2025, Nova Scotia’s Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) rate has officially decreased from 15% to 14%. This change is now in effect and applies to most taxable supplies of personal property and services in the province. The applicable rate depends on when the tax became payable or was paid, whichever came first. Transitional rules clarify how to apply the new rate for transactions around the effective date.
